Ok back again

Ok so here are some pics of Ilene all apart and I also ordered my POR15 cycle tank kit. So I have now POR’d the tank and it is curing as we speak. As with everything I do in life it was QUITE messy, but it is done and looks all nice and shiny on the inside.

Checking in

So all it’s been awhile since an update. I have completely torn down the bike. There is an empty frame in the middle of my garage that I’ve washed and dried in prep for stripping and painting it. I’m trying to do as much work myself on it and powder coating was MUCH too expensive for my budget. I’m cleaning up parts now as I wait for some funds for parts/tools. Anyway I’ll toss up some more pics soon. Still planning what I am gonna do once I get the frame painted. Probably going to go section by section cleaning/upgrading parts as I can.

More stuff!!

Today my shift shaft oil seal came in so I installed that. Yesterday I tore apart the fuel petcock to let the tank air out so I could POR-15 it in the future. It is a 1983 style petcock which as they say on the ROV Forums are “unobtainium” for parts. I found a new one available on e-bay but it is WAY out of my price range. Hopefully I can match up the o rings that need replacing with something at the local auto parts store.

First Update

So after much reading and pouring through the Riders of Vision Forums for tips and joining the forums, I have started repairing what I could. I did the highly recommended starter clutch fix and have rebuilt the starter. While waiting on parts I started tearing more off the bike. It is getting down to needing more as I dig deeper. I’m starting a list and already have a plan as to what to fix next. Probably will replace the old fuse box with an updated version and hopefully get a soldering gun and solder the wire breaks and such. Here are a few photos of the starter clutch bolt fix and my reassembled rebuild and bench tested starter. Also a few of the disassembled bike

My First Motorcycle

Here she is, my very first street bike. I used to ride dirt bikes a lot as a kid and have always wanted to have a street bike. She is in definite need of work but I have found a following of people that all have or have had this model motorcycle. They are called the Riders of Vision and can be found at  www.ridersofvision.net. They have a ton of tips and must fixes on the bike as well as parts available. I got the bike in mid-July. I started tearing her down as soon as I got it home and have gone from that guy that is always on the computer to that guy always in the garage doing whatever I can on the motorcycle.
